Founded by Jessica and Doyel, Dogs of Ella is a charity on a mission to improve the quality of life of not only our four-legged friends, but also those of the broader community. Working side by side with other animal welfare organisations in the nation, Dogs of Ella aims to make a meaningful impact within the sphere of animal rights and welfare.
Dogs of Ella employs two methods to achieve this goal- one focuses on caring for the animals already cast aside, and one turns its attention towards the human side of the equation and aims to raise awareness through education.
There are currently two facilities, one in Kumbalwella and one in Haputale, that over 50 different animals currently call home. Working with a local vet, these two facilities are where the dogs are rehabilitated and readied for local or international adoption.
With no government aid, Dogs of Ella is run by a skeleton crew that works tirelessly to care for these rescues, participate in the movement for animal rights and welfare, and fundraise to meet overheads.
We welcome any and all help, whether it comes in the form of opting to adopt instead of purchasing a new pet, funding, or volunteer work.
